'Excuse Me' is the first solo offering from Benny Diction of the 'Punning Clan'. The majority of the EP is based around solid, jazzy production and Benny's vocals compliment the beat selection well. Guests include Ro Jista, Spider Jaroo,Leen, Mista P and Solo Cypher. The strongest guest verse is provided by Spider Jaroo but all guests provide a solid verse and help to shape the direction of the EP. Benny's flow reminds of a cross between Braintax and Ty and I'd definetly
look forward to hearing his future projects.
Highlights include the projects opening track 'The Jazzstix Society', a suitably jazzy number which sets things off nicely, many topics are covered throughout the project but the EP progresses logically; testament to a logical track selection as
well as Benny's ability as an MC. On 'What's What?' which features Leen the tempo and production style is switched up,this allows for some impressive structures from both MC's. It's refreshing to hear an EP that sounds quite different to anything
else thats out there in a time where UK Hip Hop has become saturated by mediocre 'Horrorcore' and 'Road Man' isms.
All in all , this is a solid release and i'd definetly reccomend that you check it out. Look out for the full length LP by Benny Diction; 'Hard Graft, Arts & Crafts and Hearty Laughs' which dropped recently.
